April Showers bring May Flowers!

Let's hope that is true!  We had some very Spring like weather this past weekend and then some rain showers Sunday evening, all is good...just no more snow please!!

The garden centres are starting to stock up, I saw some gorgeous pansies this on the shelves and so I couldn't help but be inspired by such pretty flowers!

As you know...I am 'clean and simple' scrapper kinda gal, give me some stickers, pre-printed sentiment labels, a little twine and some pretty pattern paper I can usually whip up a card pretty fast.  Luckily manufacturers do all the hard work in coordinating these pretty elements for us already.  For example, Echo Park's (love them!) For the Record collection just does that:

Here is a quickie card I posted over at Scrapbook and Card Today's blog:

I did add a pleated ribbon to finish the card.  I'll show you how easy-peasy it is to do that later this week.  Have a wonderful day!

One-sheet accordion style mini album!

I love making mini albums especially when all you need is a 12 x 12 card stock base and a few bits of pattern paper and embellies!

Supplies: Bazzil card stock, Echo Park pattern paper and diecuts, Sizzix diecuts, Reasonably Ribbon, The Twinery Twine,

Here is how to make an accordion mini:

Place the 12 x 12 sheet on your Scor-pal and score at 3, 6, 9  inches.  Then rotate 90 deg right and score at 6 inches.

Fold the paper up along the 6 inch score line and then valley, mountain, and valley fold along the 3 inch increments.  You have just made your accordion album.  You can vary each panel by flipping out the corner flaps and using a circle or square punches along the top of the middle panels.

Decorate with pattern paper and embellishments.  Each panel pocket can hold a 2.75 x 6 inch tag for more photos or journaling.

Hope you give this easy-peasy mini a try, have a wonderful day!

Baby Time!

Just doing a little thinking..

Look at this cutie patootie...aww so sweet...just weeks old in this photo and so precious this little darling, I wonder what he is dreaming about?

And surfing the net I see these 2 adorable baby collections from Echo Park, omg so darn c-u-t-e!!

Hmm...I think to myself how about a Baby Time layouts class?  I thought about doing a gender neutral class but looking at these 2 collections I think doing just 'baby girl' or 'baby boy' works better.  I would design them side by side and I would teach them simultaneously, you just need to pick 'boy' or 'girl' class kit.  I have lots of page ideas swirling in my head such as capturing everyday precious moments to stuff you might have saved like hospital band, ultrasound photos, first haircut kind of stuff...

I am thinking this would be a class for Scrapfest Oshawa this coming Fall, let me know your thoughts!

Scrapfest Kitchener Wrap-up

Had a wonderful time this past weekend at Scrapfest Kitchener.  Thank you to Lisa Furtney and her amazing team for another successful Scrapfest.  Waving 'hello' to all the ladies who took time out of their busy shopping schedule (and there was alot of shopping to do in the marketplace, ha) to take my classes, you ladies were awwe-some!!  I have sent all the pdf class files to the participants who requested one but had a few emails bounce backs, if you did not receive yours please email me.

Here's a pic of one of my classes in progress and a few prize winners.

Last but not least I wanted to give a huge thank you to my gal pals- Mary, Myra, and Lancia! Wonderful friends by day and 'Virginia's teaching assistants during Scrapfest' who take lots of abuse from me (wink wink).  Seriously you gals kept it together for me, keeping me in check and taking care of all the little details!

Next stop for me is Barrie Cropfest (May 3-4)  just a few weeks away and is the same weekend as National Scrapbook Day!  If you are on the fence about booking the weekend away--jump off the fence now and book some scrappy therapy time, you deserve it!  Registration details are here.
Hope to see you there!

Dividing up divided page protectors

I am loving the options of using divided page protectors and mixing them into my albums.   WR Memory Keeper has come out with oodles of configurations and you get get these at your LSS or Michaels.
I like to mix them with my traditional 12 x 12 layouts because sometimes you have photos that you don't necessarily want to scrap on a layout but want to to still include them in your albums.  I even like to go one step further and actually divide them up.  Yup, dividing divided page protectors..sounds a bit weird doesn't it?

Take your divided page protector (I chose the 6 up landscape configuration).  Cut away ½ inch from the first column.  You can use your trimmer or scissors, don’t worry about having to make it super straight because you will be covering up the rough edge with pattern paper.  Don’t discard the rest of the page protector because you can use it later , I'll post a few ideas later.
Cut two 1 x 12 inch paper strips and border punch along the edge.  Glue these strips directly to the page protector along the edge that is rough cut.  I chose a coordinating pattern paper with the 12 x 12 layout underneath.  Your page protector is slightly longer than 12 inches so your strip will not reach end to end,  just cut on an angle the little longer piece at the ends.

Slip in your photos and other memorabilia (I included the actual party invitation) into the photo sleeves. I like how the smaller page fits over the layout giving you a peek of what’s to follow next.

Here is a view of the smaller page flipped over, again just slip more photos in and it all ties to the layout. Talk about easy-peasy!  Hope you give mixing up your album pages a try!

Here's a look at the 12 x 12 layout (without the glare) because I've taken it out of the page protector.

Supplies: My Minds Eye pattern paper, Lifestyle Crafts die cuts and alphabet, Sketch Support sketch.

snow flurries- seriously?

I left the house this morning and it was minus 4 degrees, huh?  I was thinking warm, sunny thoughts, even made a bright and cheerful little one-sheet mini with Echo Park's Hello Summer collection to wish in some rays. Here's a little peek at my sunny mini, I have to wait to show you the rest of it later because this is for Scor-pal's April projects, so excited to see the other mini's my fellow Scor-pal gals create!

Have a wonderful (warm!!) week :)
