Toronto Creativ Festival just a few days away!

Here is a peek at the 3D Circle of Memories album that I will be teaching at the Toronto Creativ Festival this Thursday October 20.   We will be playing with products from Harmonie, a Canadian scrapbooking manufacturer.  Join me for a morning of fun to create a beautiful 3D album.  I am so excited to share with you a way-cool technique to fold, cut, tuck, and glue your way through a wonderful 3D project that is sure to be admired by many.  Did you notice the class photo does not show the finished album in 3D? it works better to teach you the technique while the project is de-constructed so I'll be finishing the project along side of you in real time!

Class Sneak Peek
Example only

There are still spots available in this workshop so why not book yourself some 'Me' creative time.  Hope to see you there!

If you are joining me for the workshop, please bring the following items:
12 inch trimmer, scissors, pencil, ruler, adhesive, adhesive foam pop up squares, bone folder, fine tipped tweezers.

Cheers!

Fall tiime!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  After a few helpings of turkey, stuffing, and pie - I always take a minute to think about that gym membership again...lol.

Should have, would have, could have... kept our pool open (we closed it during those frosty nights in mid September)..oh it would have been nice to have one more swim for the year.

What is fall without some apple picking?  I pick the apples as high as I can reach from the ground because I don't do well with stepping up a ladder, Anna on the other hand has no problem reaching for that perfect apple.  With our bounty, I made some apple crisp yesterday- so yummy! again...should be thinking about that gym membership?

Are you getting ready for Halloween just a few weeks away? knowing that we may be dipping into our child's candy loot bag for those bite sized chocolate bars I thought I would share an easy recipe for a calorie free bowlful of Halloween treats.  I made a bunch of treat boxes (they do hold real candy too) and put photo(s) on the back of the boxes.  A fun home decor idea to relive those past Halloween memories!

These treat boxes are really easy to make, you can hop on over to the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog for my step-by-step tutorial.  Have fun!

Scrapbook and Cards Today Tutorials

Wishing all my Canadian friends a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving weekend.  Here in Southern Ontario they are calling for bea-uti-ful weather.  What a wonderful time to be outdoors, maybe visit an apple orchard, a pumpkin patch, or a fall fair? --have fun whatever your plans may be and cherish the extra time you are spending with your loved ones.

Did you know the Fall issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today (SCT) is out?  Available at most LSS's and it is also FREE for download from their website.  The cover was created by the uber talented Kelly Goree.  The little girl in the photo is so sweet from her beautiful smile to her pretty hair ties.  I had the wonderful opportunity to create a layout as well featuring this little girl and it is shown on pg. 4 in the magazine.

Playing a little catch up...I usually post for you to hop over to SCT's blog for my monthly 3T's article.  In September I created a tutorial to make a cupcake mini book.  You can view the how-to steps here.

I also had a chance to play in their weekly designer challenge.  Since it was in September, I chose the challenge with a  back-to-school theme.  My challenge to you was to incorporate school supplies in your projects. You can read about it here.

The second part of the Designer challenge is to create another project.  I created a fun lunch bag note book. You easily make one, the steps are here.

My October 3T's post is scheduled for next Tuesday  --Halloween related of course!

Again, wishing everyone a wonderful holiday weekend!

Imaginisce Joy!

I love Autumn but I have to admit that the chilliness this past weekend made me turn on the heat in our house.  Putting on the extra sweater and pair of socks just didn't keep me toasty enough so I gave in...and it's always a good thing to test out your furnace anyways before the winter just to make sure it's in proper working order ;)

As most of you know, Scrapalicious officially closed last Thursday.  The store maybe be closed but not our hearts as we remember with fondness all the wonderful people that have come by, the fun, the laughter, and the lasting memories.  It is on this high note that we do not say good bye...just 'until next time' as I am sure in this tight knit community of scrappers we are bound to meet again.

I will continue to keep crafting and blogging.  I have renamed this blog to Virginia's Scrappy Corner, the URL link is the same and would love for you to continue following my scrappy journey.

Autumn is here, Halloween will be upon us in just a few weeks and then Christmas is just around the corner.  These last few months in the year always go so fast.  Here is a 4 page Christmas layout kit I recently created to celebrate all things festive.

The paper collection featured in this kit is by Imaginisce.  This is one of my fav companies, everything they make is just so C-U-T-E!  In this kit...pretty much every last bit of paper is used and a few custom diecuts are included for extra accents.  Where is this available for sale?  This leads into some exciting news...

Younique Country Retreat is a scrapbooking B&B and store in Guelph. Heather, the owner, is a wonderful host and has thought of everything to make your scrappy stay a fabulous experience.  Forget to pack something...not to worry as there is a store on premise with lot of goodies.  Heather will be selling some of my kit designs.  The kits available at her store are exclusively sold at Younique and Heather is offering them as a take home kit or as a class.  You can check out the details here or just give her a call for more info.  These kits are available in limited quantities so please pick one before they are gone.

Currently these are six kit designs exclusively at Younique:

Happy World Card Making Day

Today is World Card Making Day!  Hand made cards are fun to make and always puts a smile on the recipient.   I often hear from just layout scrappers that the challenge to making cards is where to start with the design.  I took inspiration from the left side of  a layout sketch below (this is Becky Fleck's September sketch for project 12, for more of Becky's awesome sketches you can click here),

Here is my card based based on the above sketch (using the left side only).  The pattern paper is Basic Grey's new Picadilly collection.

You can view more beautiful cards celebrating World Card Making Day over on Scrapbook and Card's Today blog here .
